Are you planning to travel?
Inform yourself prior to travelling of the situation regarding child prostitution in the places you are visiting.
Should you suspect sexual misconduct of children, let people know your displeasure:
- Discuss with your local tour guide, or with people in the group you are travelling with to see what you can do.
- If possible notify the hotel youre staying at, the embassy or the local police.
- If you suspect the offender is a New Zealander, notify the NZ Police at home, ECPAT Child ALERT or make a report through this website. This person can be tried in New Zealand.
- Advise the tour operator or travel agent you booked your holiday with of the problems you observed. Encourage them to distribute the report child sex information from ECPAT so that other travellers can learn what to do if they observe child sex tourism.

Avoid certain areas if you dont want to come face to face with child prostitution:
- Avoid clubs, bars and brothels where you suspect the presence of children.
- Avoid hotels where you suspect they allow guests to take children up to their rooms where abuse might take place.
- Avoid massage parlours where children are forced to work.
Trips to red light districts where child prostitution is in evidence should be avoided. Be aware that the sex industry benefits from even just a visit to a red light district as the innocent purchase of souvenirs and drinks in a bar provides indirect revenue for an industry supporting child prostitution.
