This piece of research on the different types of coerced ‘self produced’ child sexual exploitation material describes and critically analyses five forms of coerced “self-produced” child sexual exploitation material (CSEM): Solicitation, Peer Sexting, Viral Challenge, Sextortion and Financial Coercion.
One of its authors shared Appendix A from the study, which clearly summarises the forms and highlights the ways in which our young people are being manipulated into providing CSEM.
If this is the only part of the research you check out, it will be worth it, as increasing our understanding of the risks and how these situations happen can enable us to guide the young people in our lives to navigate the online world more safely and confidently, identify suspicious situations, and respond empathetically.
Five Forms of Coerced “Self-Produced” Child Sexual Exploitation Material: A Critical Interpretive Synthesis was published by Sage Journals, Trauma, Violence, & Abuse Volume 25 Issue 5
