ECPAT’s deputy director of Survivor Engagement, Synteche Collins (Ngāti Pikiao, Te Arawa), states that “We have different types of trafficking: the kinds that you see in the movies like Taken, which is the classic cross-border kind that I think most people are familiar with. The other kinds of trafficking that exist are things like domestic trafficking”.

A common form of human trafficking in Aotearoa is labour exploitation in hospitality, agriculture and a range of other areas. ECPAT NZ is calling for a dedicated helpline set up for all exploitation and trafficking victims.
