New Zealand may enact a modern slavery law in 2025. Revived by National MP Greg Fleming via a Member’s Bill, the proposed Modern Slavery Reporting Bill would require large entities (over $50m revenue) operating in New Zealand to publish annual statements disclosing modern slavery risks and actions taken within their operations and supply chains, such as forced labor and sexual exploitation, both domestic and international. Non-compliance could attract significant financial penalties. The bill awaits parliamentary introduction.
